Privacy Policy

Starkey Insurance Group ("we", "us") is a licensed independent insurance agency in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky and North Carolina. This policy explains what we collect through our online quote form at getstarkeyquote.pages.dev and how we use it. In short: we use your information to get you insurance quotes, we share it only as needed to do that, and we do not sell it.

What we collect

• Contact info: name, phone, email, home, mailing or business address, and how you prefer to be contacted.
• Personal details used for rating: date of birth, gender and marital status.
• Driver info: driver names, dates of birth, driver's license numbers and states, years licensed, accidents and violations.
• Vehicles: VINs, year/make/model, use, mileage, ownership and garaging ZIP.
• Property details: address, year built, size, construction, roof, heating, safety features and prior claims.
• Business info (commercial): business name, entity type, FEIN, USDOT/MC numbers, operations, revenue, payroll, employees, vehicles, drivers and loss history. When you give a USDOT number, we look up the public FMCSA SAFER record.
• Current insurance: current carrier, premium, renewal date and any documents you choose to attach, such as declarations pages or loss runs.
• Consent record: that you checked the consent box, the version of the wording, the time, the page address and your IP address.

We never ask for your Social Security number on this form. Please don't type it into any field.

If you scan the barcode on the back of a driver's license, it is read on your device; the image is not uploaded. Only the details it fills in (which you can change) are sent when you submit.

Why we collect it

• To prepare and compare insurance quotes for you, and to contact you about your quote and other insurance products you may want.
• To share with insurance companies, wholesale brokers/managing general agents and rating platforms (comparative rating software we use to request quotes) so they can quote your coverage.
• To check information, such as decoding a VIN with the federal NHTSA database or reading a public FMCSA record.
• To meet legal, licensing and recordkeeping duties, and to prevent fraud and spam.

We don't sell your personal information

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Notice about nonpublic personal information (GLBA)

As an insurance agency, we follow the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and state insurance privacy laws. We collect nonpublic personal information from you (on applications and forms), from your transactions with us and insurers, and, through insurers, from consumer reporting agencies (such as motor vehicle records, claims history and, where allowed, credit-based insurance scores). We disclose it only as permitted by law, for example to insurers and service providers who help us quote and service your insurance, to regulators, or as required by law. We do not disclose it to nonaffiliated third parties for their own marketing, so there is nothing you need to opt out of. Each insurance company that quotes or insures you may give you its own privacy notice.

Security

The form is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Driver's license numbers are not saved in your browser between visits. Access to our records is limited to agency staff who need it. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, but we work to protect yours.

How long we keep it

We keep quote information as long as needed to quote and service your insurance and as required by insurance recordkeeping laws and regulations, then delete or de-identify it. If you don't buy a policy, you can ask us to delete your quote request at any time (see below).

Your choices and requests

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop calls, texts or emails. Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Contact us:

We may need to confirm your identity first. We may keep some information when the law requires it.

Cookies, browser storage and outside services

• We do not use advertising cookies, analytics or tracking pixels on the quote form.
• Your browser saves your answers in its own local storage so you can pick up where you left off. It is cleared when you submit. You can also clear it in your browser settings.
• Cloudflare hosts the site and runs Turnstile, a check that you're not a bot. Cloudflare may process technical data such as your IP address and browser details for security.
• Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address and browser details.
• VINs are checked with the NHTSA vPIC database, and USDOT numbers with FMCSA SAFER.
• If you choose to connect your current policy with Canopy Connect, Canopy's own terms and privacy policy apply to what you share there.

Children

This form is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. Information about younger household drivers is collected only from a parent or guardian, to quote their policy.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed. Big changes will be posted here before they take effect.
